Philosophy & Goals

St. Louis Preschool provides young children with a loving, secure environment in which they can develop spiritually, physically, intellectually and socially. Our goals are to provide healthy Catholic values, a positive self-image, and a spirit of learning and sharing through a cooperative relationship with our school and parish families. St. Louis Preschool admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin.

Each child is special and unique; loved individually and intimately by God. It is in this understanding that St. Louis Preschool will strive to develop a love of Jesus and the knowledge of the presence of God in the lives of each family that the school serves. St. Louis Preschool also recognizes that young children are learning all the time. It is our responsibility as adults and teachers to be facilitators of learning. Learning takes place when children can question, share information and ideas, try new activities, and are allowed to wonder. We believe that our program will offer the best possible environment to support and develop young children's love of learning and understanding of how God loves them. 

St. Louis Preschool believes that play is the most developmentally appropriate and productive avenue for young children's learning. Research shows that children learn best in an environment which allows them to explore, discover and play. Play enhances language development, social competence, creativity, imagination, and thinking skills. It is the chief vehicle for the development of intelligence, language, social behavior, and  perceptual-motor abilities in young children.

GOALS
St. Louis Preschool believes the main goal of early childhood education is to support the development of the whole child. Our curriculum will adapt to meet the unique developmental needs of each child. In a world that is becoming increasingly competitive and materialistic, our program will provide a place for every child to be a child - free to learn, play, explore and imagine in a loving, nurturing environment, knowing that they are loved by God.
