“When we are united to God’s will and trust Him with our lives, we can be cheerful, even in difficult circumstances. Practicing cheerfulness does not mean pretending everything is perfect all the time. Sometimes things are tough and not as we would like. But if we are filled with the joy of the Lord, a joy that nothing can take from us, we can see the good in the midst of difficulties. Jesus said, “I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
